City of Vaughan
The City oversees road improvement projects on municipal streets within Vaughan. Some of the notable projects include the Canada Drive – America Avenue Bridge, enhancements in Kleinburg Village, and the Pavement Management Program. York Region
York Region handles projects on regional roads in Vaughan, such as Bathurst Street, Dufferin Street, Keele Street, and Major Mackenzie Drive. Current projects include improvements on Rutherford Road and Major Mackenzie Drive, from Highway 400 to Jane Street. Province of Ontario – Ministry of Transportation (MTO)
The Province is in charge of maintaining the 400-series highways. This includes projects like widening Highway 400 from Langstaff Road to Major Mackenzie Drive, expanding it from eight to ten lanes, among other enhancements. Transit Projects
Throughout the year, various transit agencies have projects that might affect your daily routine. Here’s where you can find more details:
- York Region Transit (YRT): Serving all of York Region, including Vaughan, with conventional, Viva, and on-request services.
- Toronto Transit Commission (TTC): Vaughan boasts the only subway connection to Toronto at the Vaughan Metropolitan Centre (VMC). Imagine skipping traffic and taking the subway instead!

Another significant transit project underway is the Yonge North Subway Extension, which will extend service from TTC’s Finch Station northwards to Vaughan, Markham, and Richmond Hill. The extension includes five stations, with three in Vaughan along Yonge Street—at Steeles Avenue, Clark Avenue, and Royal Orchard Boulevard—covering approximately eight kilometers. Questions?
