Big Things Are Coming to North Maple Regional Park!

Exciting news for Vaughan residents! Construction is now underway on a brand-new Family Recreation Area at North Maple Regional Park (NMRP)—a major step forward in transforming this expansive green space into a vibrant community hub.
This $26-million project will introduce over 15 acres of new recreational amenities designed for year-round fun and connection. The Family Recreation Area will include:
* Nature-inspired playgrounds
* A waterplay zone
* A winter skating trail
* A scenic pondside boardwalk with accessible pathways
* Beautiful flower gardens
* A large picnic pavilion
* Washrooms and parking for convenience
The Family Recreation Area is part of the ongoing development of the 900-acre NMRP, one of Vaughan’s most ambitious park projects to date. What was once one of North America’s largest landfill sites is being thoughtfully reimagined as a welcoming, sustainable public space focused on three key principles: Restore, Engage, and Play.
This transformation is made possible thanks to years of planning and advocacy, including efforts by local community groups like Vaughan CARES, who played a pivotal role in closing the landfill in 2002. Today, their legacy lives on as NMRP evolves into a year-round destination for sports, nature, and family gatherings.
Once completed in 2026, the new Family Recreation Area is expected to become a favourite spot for residents and visitors alike—offering something for all ages and abilities to enjoy.
📍 Located at 11085 Keele St., Maple, this exciting addition to the park will soon bring new opportunities for outdoor fun and community connection right here in Vaughan.
