A tax credit in the amount of $377 is provided by the City of Vaughan to elderly home owners who qualify.

To Qualify, The Owner Must:

• Be sixty-five (65) years of age or older as of March 31st, 2020
• Have been assessed as the owner and occupant of residential property used as the
principal residence in the City of Vaughan for a period of not less than 1 year
immediately preceding the application deadline.
• the applicant (owner) must be receiving the GUARANTEED INCOME
SUPPLEMENT (GIS) under Part II of the OLD AGE SECURITY ACT (Canada) as
of the application deadline (March 31, 2020). The Guaranteed Income Supplement
(GIS) is an income tested monthly benefit that low income seniors receive in addition
to their Old Age Security pension.
• Complete an application form and submit to the Tax Office no later than March 31,
2020 which is the final deadline for applications. Applications will not be accepted
after this date.

The deadline to apply for the Elderly Home Owners Tax Assistance Program for the year 2020 is March 31, 2020.
